Movement Arcade

A free multiplayer arcade about surfing, air-strafing and the joy of carrying speed. Players meet in a shared hub, then jump into modes together.

Not released yet. No date, no store page, no download. When there is, this button will light up.

01 · The idea

One movement. Many ways to play.

Surf, bhop and deathrun all run on the same Source-style movement. We build that movement once, as carefully as we can, and every mode inherits it. That's why we start with surf and grow mode by mode.

02 · How it works

Speed is something you steer into.

  1. 01

    Find a ramp

Angled surfaces let you slide without friction, so you keep what you build.

  2. 02

    Turn into it

Hold a strafe key and curve your view the same way. Each tick gives you a little push.

  3. 03

    Carry it

Link ramps, stay in the air, and the speed keeps stacking. Lose your line and you lose it.

Feel it in the lab

The lab below uses a simplified version of the same idea, running at 66 ticks per second like the game.

Speed

  • Where you're going
  • Where you look
  • Your push

Try it: click the box, hold D and sweep your mouse to the right (or tap the arrow keys). Keep your view turning the way you push and the gold arrow gets longer. Push without turning and nothing happens. Autopilot shows what a perfect run looks like.

03 · Modes

Surf first. Then the rest.

This is the plan, and plans change. Nothing below is released.

04 · Styles (planned)

Same map, new rules.

Optional styles change how you're allowed to move, each with its own leaderboard. They're planned and never count toward the main rankings.

05 · Maps

Credit on every map.

Maps come from the community. Using their work comes with promises, and we'd like you to be able to hold us to them.

  • Credit on every map

A map is always shown with the name of the person who made it.

  • Removal on request

If a mapper asks for their map to come down, it comes down.

  • Community first

The genre exists because mappers kept building. We want to be a good home for their work.

06 · Roadmap

The road so far (and ahead).

No dates. We'd rather ship it right than ship it on a deadline.

  1. Stage 1

    Movement

Get the feel right: air-strafing, ramps, speed.

  2. Stage 2

Servers, timers, start and end zones, records.

  3. Stage 3

    Lobby and maps

A hub, parties, and the first community maps.

    Bhop and deathrun

New modes on the same movement.
